Lucas Torreira confirms move to Arsenal after World Cup exit

Uruguay international Lucas Torreira has taken to social media to confirm his move to Arsenal – He was among the Uruguay players that crashed out at the Russia 2018 World Cup when they lost to France – The 23-year-old defensive midfielder currently plays for Italian club Sampdoria Premier League giants Arsenal are now on the verge of signing another player to their squad before the start of next season after Uruguay international Lucas Torreira confirmed a move. This comes just a day after his country crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where they were beaten 2-0 by France. The 23-year-old defender who currently plays for Sampdoria looks set to become Unai Emery’s fourth signing of the summer after impressing at the 2018 World Cup. BBC’s David Ornstein also claimed according to the Sun UK that the player will arrive London next week to sign his deal with the Gunners. The player also confirmed that he will be on his way to Arsenal in a social media post. Worldloaded.com earlier had reported how Antoine Griezmann became the first French player to score and assist a goal in a knockout game of the World Cup since Patrick Vieira vs Spain in 2006 as France beat Uruguay 2-0 to clinch a spot in the semifinal of the World Cup. The Atletico Madrid star provided the assist for France’s opening goal as his free-kick was powered home by Varane in the 40th minute before scoring the second goal. France will meet Belgium in the semifinal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
